Jack Skelington Tattoo

You should all know by now of my age-old unhealthy obsession with Nightmare Before Christmas, Tim Burton's tale of the scare-weary "king" of Halloween Town, Jack Skelington, who decides he'll take over christmas. It's a wonderful tale of... stuff (didn't really finish that off very well, I guess) and it has captivated my imagination since I first saw it in the cinema 12 years ago.

When I was first introduced to Marit, I told her about my Jack doll, a poseable, 30 cm tall (one foot, basically) figure of our beloved protagonist. She promptly suggested I hand it over immediately or she'd steal it. I (not so) politely declined, and she's been hanging around me ever since, plotting to one day leave me with Jack in her backpack.

Many of you also know that I've been working on my Jack drawings in order to make myself a tattoo. While we were in Amsterdam, I finally realised my long-time dream. I decided that since I was going to spend a bunch of money there anyway, I might as well spend some of it on something that will last for years to come. Not only would I have a lasting mark of my affection for the film, but I would also attach my many fond memories from the trip to the tattoo. So I worked a few days on a design I was happy with, and by a complete fluke, I ended up with what was finally stabbed into my arm with an ink-covered needle. Note that the tattoo is still fresh, and the crusty-looking texture of it will only last for about two weeks, at which point I will take another picture so you can see the "final" tattoo.
